So, I'm going to make the move to another journal, and the time has come. Yes, this does mean that I'm ready to start posting installments of my Strangetown story, and yes, I really want you to read them. Please, if you have friended me, add my new username to your friend list. I will be adding all of you as friends to the new journal. Any newcomers who want to read the story should feel free to add me as a friend too.

My new name is Strange Tomato. Was it worth all my careful thinking? Probably not, but I like it. It has strange in it, it has tomatoes - what more could you want? It's a little like being a bad apple, I guess. Random trivia: Tomatoes are my favourite food, and I eat them like apples. Tomato can be used as slang for a woman, like chick, broad, bird, kitten, etc. It reminds me of "she's a sad tomato", which is a line from an R.E.M. song, Crush with Eyeliner, that I've always really liked.

So, here's the new journal: http://strange-tomato.livejournal.com/

Not much to see yet, but I will post a little character information later today. I'm going to continue to use that cutie icon of Nervous for a while, so you will know it's me, and because I like it.

"So, Erin, you've heard about that new Strangetown story in the works, right? Someone else is going to attempt to weave our tale. I hope they don't make me into a bitch or too much of a tomboy."

"I hope there's lots of romance."

"Oh, that's basically guaranteed, right? It's not a question of if, but of who gets paired with whom."

"I just hope I'm not paired off with Ajay Loner... again."

"Well, it's you or me, probably. Unless we're lesbians this time around. Hell, maybe we'll end up together."

"Umm, that's unlikely. Do you have any idea how many lesbian relationships I have managed to actively resist in other Strangetowns? Not to be a jerk about it, but don't you think someone as pretty as me, of Beaker lineage, should end up with a handsome successful husband?"

"Don't forget modest."

"Anyway, Chloe is always the lesbian, not to mention a slut."

"Yeah, you're right, Erin. She is.  Almost always. It's not nice to say slut, though... "

"I call it like I see it, okay, and Chloe is a dirty tramp... Hmm... I hope the writer pairs Nervous with Pascal.  That always goes over well."

"Yeah, it does, but you never know..."

Is it possible to change your username once you've set up a livejournal? I want to switch to something less confusing, since I'll be posting stories about Nervous and I'm also using him as my pseudonym.  Is there an easy way to do this, or should I cut my losses and start a new journal now before I start posting the stories?

Well, I'm not sure what I've done, but I've really gone and done it now.

I've been planning to use fwiffo's Multiple Pollination Technicians from MTS2 in my Strangetown, for the added genetic variety this gives alien children (I don't want them all to be related). Of course, I still quite like the original PT, and was hoping the use a mix of both. I'm getting the impression that this won't work so well.

I have read that the children of the default PT will retain him in their family tree if the replacement PTs are added, and this seems to be true. However, I added the PTs first, created an alien child (Jayne), and then removed them again before Pascal and Vidcund had their babies (I wanted to be old school and have them both have children with the default PT). That worked fine, but now the first child, Jayne, has no pollinator at all in her family tree, just the father. This didn't change when I re-added the replacement PTs.

Jayne's pollinator was PT #14, I believe (the redhead). Obviously, I should have wrote that down.

I've also noticed that Jayne's eyes are now no longer the replacement alien eyes that I'm using and are showing as the default Maxis alien eyes, while all other aliens in town are showing the replacements. Ummm, I have no explanation for that. At all. Anyone?

I have also added the alien eye/hidden skin fix that pixel and bean posted, if that has any significance to the eye problem.

I have sent a message to the creator of the multiple PTs, so hopefully that will shed some light, but in the meantime, I would love to hear suggestions and possible explanations, if you have them! I'm mostly concerned that this might affect Jayne's genetics. I assume that she will use her father's recessive genes, but will her own alien genes even be passed on?

I appreciate any help I can get with this.

Well, after all that, you deserve a preview of the little darling. She's featured in the prologue to my Strangetown tale, which should be on the way soon, so it's not that much of a spoiler. I present to you... Ms. Jayne Doe.

This is for Madame Ugly. I mentioned seeing what appeared to be (many) beer bottles behind the sim's bar. Sure, the bottle they drink directly from resembles a water bottle, no doubt, but what about these?

So, being a complete noob here, I have to ask about the best way to advertise my story to various sim communities. I have seen some of you mention that you have posted on the sims storytellers community (which I have joined) - is that the best (and only) place? I'm guessing that posting a little notice and a link to my page would be appropriate. Is there anything else I should know? I don't want to come off all rude.

So my computer has returned, complete with a video card upgrade. I still had a heap of trouble with re-installing virus software before I could visit my sims, but the new video card has made a huge difference to the game speed! I may actually even be able to catch up with myself, writing the story ahead of playing the game (which is so easily thrown off while playing... I hate to plan too far ahead).

The speed is just... wow. I'm quite pleased.

So, of course, I headed into Strangetown for a bit. I'll soon have something ready to post. In the meantime, I had my way with Ajay Loner and the mirror, desperately trying to make him interesting to me.

My computer is out being repaired, so I thought I'd share some older pics with you. I just happened to have these uploaded to Photobucket already - my only connection to my sims right now. *sigh*

We have some alien children, and the child of a familiar Strangetown character that was born in my "old" Strangetown - before I reset the neighbourhood. I'm sure you'll guess one of her parents, but maybe not the other...

I have been testing out some Maxis-style default replacement eyes for my sims for a while, and I think I've narrowed it down to two options, but I still have issues with both sets and can't decide. I'd love some feedback, oh gentle simmers.

Oh, Hi! Welcome to Strangetown, and my journal.

I have been so inspired by reading the Strangetown stories of other sims storytellers on livejournal, that I have decided to start my own. For now, this is just a test post to warm up. Nothing too exciting here yet, as I'm clueless about livejournal, so I have to figure it all out. If anyone feels helpful, I'd love to know how to set up a banner on the top of my page - a custom one, preferably.

For now, you can join the Smustle! Gabardine (an alien sim of mine, created in BodyShop) warns that it can be easy to become injured while smustling, so be careful! That's gotta hurt, Erin!

The pic is from a Strangetown themed Asylum Challenge that I have been playing. I may post the results later for a "laurgh". Please take my advice to never do this challenge with a pleasure sim as your controllable character - Having 50 first dates is a brutal LTW in the best of times, and it's hard to find time to date when you are trying to manage the constant kitchen fires and fights (all Circe related).
