Coming Soon... Strangetown
"So, Erin, you've heard about that new Strangetown story in the works, right? Someone else is going to attempt to weave our tale. I hope they don't make me into a bitch or too much of a tomboy."

"I hope there's lots of romance."

"Oh, that's basically guaranteed, right? It's not a question of if, but of who gets paired with whom."

"I just hope I'm not paired off with Ajay Loner... again."

"Well, it's you or me, probably. Unless we're lesbians this time around. Hell, maybe we'll end up together."

"Umm, that's unlikely. Do you have any idea how many lesbian relationships I have managed to actively resist in other Strangetowns? Not to be a jerk about it, but don't you think someone as pretty as me, of Beaker lineage, should end up with a handsome successful husband?"

"Don't forget modest."

"Anyway, Chloe is always the lesbian, not to mention a slut."

"Yeah, you're right, Erin. She is.  Almost always. It's not nice to say slut, though... "

"I call it like I see it, okay, and Chloe is a dirty tramp... Hmm... I hope the writer pairs Nervous with Pascal.  That always goes over well."

"Yeah, it does, but you never know..."

*snort* I love metafictional stuff.

The lesbian thing is SO TRUE (I've done it myself with Kristen--dark haired one?--and Chloe--short hair alien girl?--it ended badly). I never paired Ajay with anyone. I disfigured him with the plastic surgery machine and he lived a life of quiet desperation in a room he rented from General Grunt.

Pascal/Nervous pairing was the only thing I always did the same each time I played Strangetown. It's the perfect romance.

*snort* The way that reads it sounds like *I* was having a lesbian relationship with both Kristen and Chloe. Oh man, I like sims but not THAT much.
nervous_subjectnervous_subject on October 26th, 2007 02:09 pm (UTC)
Bahaha! Yeah, I've messed around with Chloe before, but nothing below the belt, ya know?
nervous_subjectnervous_subject on October 26th, 2007 02:07 pm (UTC)
Yeah, me too. It's hard to keep the fourth wall up, sometimes.

Yeah, I've seen the lesbian thing so many times. I think you mean Lola as the short, dark haired alien. I always confuse them too, even though I shouldn't. Lola and Chloe are like Apollo and Dionysus, so it shouldn't be hard to tell them apart. It must be the twin thing, and the names have a similar ring to them.

So far, Ajay has been working downtown Sim City like a consummate bachelor (must be the new look), but I haven't made any definite calls for romance in a more long-term way. The two in this conversation (Erin and Kristen) are definite options, though.

Yeah, I agree on the Nervous/Pascal thing. Certain built in plots work well for me, and that's one of them. Others, I'll mess around with.

I just had to post this because I'm just dying to start this story, but I'm still trying to decide if I will move to a new journal first. I wanted to change my username to lessen confusion, but I'm having such a hard time settling on a new name. Every time I think of something I like, I see someone else with almost the same name.

I can understand the not wanting the journal to be confusing. I've thought about changing the header on mine, since I don't write JUST Nocheat anymore (in fact, poor Nocheat is drying up on the vine--I need to post some stuff from it).

If you can't find a new name, maybe keep this one and just use different icons for stuff? I started doing that when I started multiple stories.

Yeah, it's more the username than the journal title, but that's a good point about the icons. I went with Nervous Subject because it was easy and declared my interests well, but now I realize that I don't exactly want to *be* Nervous.

I've seen several people put Pascal and Nervous together. They do make a lovely couple. So, of course, when I first played Strangetown I paired him with Kristen! Actually, they made a nice couple and had two very nice (if sloppy) sons. I've always felt Nervous made a lovely father...just don't let him play punch-me-punch-you, ever!
Erin eventually married Ripp Grunt long after he'd woohoo'd with both Erin and Chloe (while they were still living in the same house). She never caught on then but caught him on a community lot with another townie. Chloe had "accidentaly" gotten pregnant and had a son by Ripp that she basically ignored and Erin raised him more or less. When she moved in with Ripp she brought the boy with her.

Not too long ago I messed up my neighborhood and had to totally start over. :( I hadn't gotten far but I decided to scrap it and start once again. And I always said I wouldn't do that. I think I'll bring Nervous and Kristen back together again. I really do like them as a couple.

Nervous makes a great father. He's a family sim, afterall. He reacts well to any baby he's around, in fact.

Nervous really, REALLY gets into his game of punch you, punch me! ^_^ General Buzz is bad for that too.

I don't think I've ever heard of Kristen with Nervous, though I've heard of several Erin and Nervous pairings. It sounds like you have some interesting drama going on in Strangetown.

LOL. Pretty funny... :D

Some of those Singles girls just beg to be gay. I don't remember which ones I paired off, though.

I've always liked Chole and Lola, even though I didn't do much with them besides give them southern drawls and allude to Chloe being a hooker.

Erin and Circe, now... hmm, if I ever restart Strangetown I might work up some sort of brother-sister sharing of the delectable Circe Beaker. :D

No solid ideas on name change, eh? What about a pun on strange or nervous? the Central Nervous System... hee.
nervous_subjectnervous_subject on October 27th, 2007 02:04 am (UTC)
Thanks. I'm glad it amused.

Yeah, maybe the gay thing is just the most obvious thing to do with them. A house full of girls automatically equals hot lesbian action, what with all the pillow fights. I really like all the Singles girls, but then again, I just might like everyone in Strangetown (even Ajay).

Brother-sister sharing? That's a new angle. I agree about Circe being delectable - I see her as sort of a femme fatale. I never considered the relationship of Erin and Loki much before, but I got into it a little this time around.

I have an idea for a name right now, and it does involve the word strange. We'll see. If I still like it by the end of work tomorrow, it might be the one. Central Nervous System is kinda cool, though. heheh.

pixelcuriouspixelcurious on October 27th, 2007 02:38 pm (UTC)
I'm trying to get into the habit of rejecting that first, obvious idea. It usually means everyone else had it too. Like the current project in my graphic design class is to make a poster for a natural foods store. In the first round of critique, about 75% had apples on their poster (including me, though they are gone now).
nervous_subjectnervous_subject on October 27th, 2007 06:33 pm (UTC)
That's so true. Whenever I am creating a composition for a drawing, I try out a number of thumbnail sketches with the ideas that come to mind, and the first idea is hardly ever the best.

I write like that too. I play out scenes in my head, with different outcomes. Like Johnny does this, and then Ripp says this, so... or wait, what if Ripp did this instead... would he really react that way? What about Ophelia? And it goes on... it's probably why I take forever to get anything done.
