Back in Action...
So my computer has returned, complete with a video card upgrade. I still had a heap of trouble with re-installing virus software before I could visit my sims, but the new video card has made a huge difference to the game speed! I may actually even be able to catch up with myself, writing the story ahead of playing the game (which is so easily thrown off while playing... I hate to plan too far ahead).

The speed is just... wow. I'm quite pleased.

So, of course, I headed into Strangetown for a bit. I'll soon have something ready to post. In the meantime, I had my way with Ajay Loner and the mirror, desperately trying to make him interesting to me.

So, what do you think? ^_^

For comparison's sake, here's the "before" shot:

Well, it works for me, anyway.

Ajay is a cutie. I love to look you gave him.
nervous_subjectnervous_subject on October 9th, 2007 11:42 am (UTC)
Why thank you! I'm glad you approve.

Ajay's cuteness does come through for me now that I've roughed him up a bit. Feedback around the house was that I had managed to make him even nerdier... if that was even possible (and that Maxis crew cut is powerfully nerdy). I must have some mad skills if that's the case. The word "backstreet boy" was tossed around, and considering his name is Ajay, I found that amusing.

Ajay's hair is a Maxis download from the exchange - a Flemish actor named Kürt Rogiers. Ajay's the first sim that it didn't seem silly on, in my experience. The messy hair seems to work for him. He has a small head, so that's probably part of it.

I got this hair too and I never used it. It doesn´t look really good on the most of my male Sims, but it fits to Ajay, also the glasses. With his default look Ajay looks more boyish, now he´s a man.
nervous_subjectnervous_subject on October 9th, 2007 02:08 pm (UTC)
It seems like Ajay has a good shot at making this his signature look, since it hardly ever gets used on anyone else.

I love putting glasses on sims. I have such a collection of glasses downloaded now. Those frames seemed like a nice finishing touch for Ajay. I think it works well with his LTW want to become Chief of Staff - gives him a nice studious edge.
pixelcuriouspixelcurious on October 9th, 2007 11:59 am (UTC)
You know, I think that works for him! I like the glasses and curly hair. Now he looks a bit like a guy I had a crush on in high school. The stubble takes away from the boyishness of his face, too.
nervous_subjectnervous_subject on October 9th, 2007 12:25 pm (UTC)
I agree. I think it works for Ajay. Maybe not everyone, but definitely him. He did hoot and holler when he saw his reflection, so maybe he knows best. ^_^ I'll admit that I was only half serious when I clicked on that hair initially, but I really like it, and hey - someone in Strangetown really should have curly hair!

I love when sims resemble people I know. This Ajay seems to resemble someone for me too, but I can't quite put my finger on it. David Suzuki came to mind, but not really... it might just be the hair.

I'm a serious sucker for stubble, so expect to see more of it. In addition to the stubble, I gave Ajay the thickest eyebrows - they give his face more definition.

Very nice. Though I was expecting something crazy. That curly hair must have been made for him (I've seen it on other sims and it looked horrible). He definitely looks more like an adult.

Don't diss the Maxis baby bowl cut (baby bowl because the Vidcund bowl cut hair is the Big Bowl)! ;)
nervous_subjectnervous_subject on October 9th, 2007 01:33 pm (UTC)
Yeah... I would have gotten around to something crazy if this hadn't worked so well for me. There was a brief stage between these two where he had a long ponytail, which gave him more of a Native American vibe. It had it's own appeal, but I like this better.

That hair does look horrible on 98.5% of sims. I should make a point to make it genetic in his family and pick it for all of his offspring. I can see a lot of fun coming from that.

Oh, I thought about you when I said that about the "baby bowl" cut! heheh. Am I in trouble now?
madame_uglymadame_ugly on October 9th, 2007 02:56 pm (UTC)
*Am I in trouble now?*

Yes. I'm going to hunt you down, sit on you, and give you a baby bowl cut! ;)
nervous_subjectnervous_subject on October 9th, 2007 04:19 pm (UTC)
Noooooooooooooooooooooooo!! Anything but that... or, wait. Maybe not anything. The Big Bowl is worse. :D

You know, as silly as some of the Maxis hairstyles are, I am really glad they included them. It's hard to find some of those iconic style types in the cc world. I want a less Elvis-like quiff really bad, but no dice (the Maxis one will have to do).

madame_uglymadame_ugly on October 9th, 2007 04:29 pm (UTC)
The Maxis pompador (sp) would be so much better without that hanging piece of hair. I just want to snip it off.

The big bowl is worse than the baby bowl. And the Pascal hair (that side sweep) is pretty bad, too (but works on Pascal and looks super cute on little kids).

nervous_subjectnervous_subject on October 9th, 2007 04:44 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I hate that hanging piece. I would also prefer it to be more like hair and less like a helmet. The best part is that they have an actual pompadour too - Don Lothario's 'do. Yet neither is right for me. I wish someone was out there slaving over cc like this instead of a million different types of long silky hair with side swept bangs. It's nice to have that too, but I don't need so many varieties of it.

I don't even think the side sweep, aka the comb over, looks that great on Pascal. I think he can do better. Then again, he's such a logic-based creature, he probably wouldn't care about such things.
madame_uglymadame_ugly on October 9th, 2007 07:04 pm (UTC)
I hate all the Fabio hair people keep making. I guess it goes good with greasy replacement skins. *snort*

I didn't say the comb over do is Pascal's best, but he's one of the few who can pull it off. It's SO dorktastic. I love putting it on toddlers (that and the bald spot toddler hair--it just makes me think the poor kid's been neglected in their car seat to the point they wore the hair off their head).

nervous_subjectnervous_subject on October 10th, 2007 06:45 pm (UTC)
The only time the words "greasy" and "skins" should be in the same sentence is when the word "potato" comes between them, and they are covered in melted cheese.

You're right. Only Pascal can even come close to getting away with that look. We forgive him because he's so cute.

pixelcuriouspixelcurious on October 9th, 2007 02:45 pm (UTC)
You're defending that Vulcan hair?

"That is highly illogical."

*sticks out tongue and runs away*
madame_uglymadame_ugly on October 9th, 2007 02:57 pm (UTC)
*chases and overcomes pixel* HOLD STILL. *puts bowl on pixel's head* Wiggling. . .will only. . .make it worse. . .
pixelcuriouspixelcurious on October 9th, 2007 03:20 pm (UTC)

*struggles in vain*
*grabs mirror*

*puts Vulcan nerve-pinch on you*
madame_uglymadame_ugly on October 9th, 2007 03:21 pm (UTC)

Mmmm, neck massage.

Just be glad I didn't poke out your eye.
nervous_subjectnervous_subject on October 9th, 2007 04:24 pm (UTC)
Vulcan hair... hehe. I hadn't thought of it like that.

It just looks like his mom still cuts his hair to me.
pixelcuriouspixelcurious on October 9th, 2007 04:46 pm (UTC)
sixamsims just used that hairstyle on a Spock sim, which is what made me think of that. (I'd link, but she f-locks most of her posts) :D
nervous_subjectnervous_subject on October 9th, 2007 05:19 pm (UTC)
I just realized that, unlike most before and after pics, Ajay is well lit and smiling in the before shot, and poorly lit and frowning in the after shot.

... and he still looks better!
