Alien Cuteness + Random Strangetown Stuff
My computer is out being repaired, so I thought I'd share some older pics with you. I just happened to have these uploaded to Photobucket already - my only connection to my sims right now. *sigh*

We have some alien children, and the child of a familiar Strangetown character that was born in my "old" Strangetown - before I reset the neighbourhood. I'm sure you'll guess one of her parents, but maybe not the other...

The first alien child is Nova Lothario of Pleasantview. I love the sweet karma payback of getting Don alien pregnant. He's the absent father of reams of children in this town (most Romance sims under my control tend to have a tenuous grasp on birth control at best), and now he's a single parent himself.

I think she's just the cutest little thing, with Don's little nose and eyes (minus the colour) and alien cheekbones to die for. So what if she has no lips?

As you can see here, she's Don's child when it comes to personality too - quite messy, though she is a lot nicer than Don. She's more serious than playful, if I recall correctly, though she doesn't seem it. The combination of the alien extreme personality spread and Don's personality (also fairly extreme) is interesting to say the least. She's such a sweet little firecracker. She's a teen in the game right now, ready to head to university with all her skills maxed out. She's a Knowledge sim, and a very successful one at that! She wants to be a Criminal Mastermind when she grows up - how sweet!

Here she is playing with her BFF, Molly Caliente (Her mother, Nina, doesn't really do the birth control thing either). Those who play Pleasantview with any frequency will likely recognize that Molly's profile resembles another local redhead - she has Daniel Pleasant's nose. Molly is almost too nice, and unlike her mommy, she dreams of having a stable family one day.

Note to Don: If you weren't distracting the gardener so much, she might actually do some work. Just sayin'.

I don't have a close-up, but here is a frontal look at her. She looks like she's constantly sucking on a lemon, and you know that only gets more pronounced with age. ^_^

And here are a few alien children I was playing in Strangetown before I reset it. These are both children of a sim that I created in bodyshop.

Aren't they just cuties?

And here is the child of a familiar Strangetown face:

Her name is Serenity. What do you suppose her last name is?

Don's alien daughter is adorable. The tiny lips don't look that bad on her either. If she's going to be a criminal mastermind, it's nice to have a sour look. Sims will be scared of her.

The other alien girl is gorgeous, too. If it weren't for the gnarled alien ears, she'd look like one of the Single's aliens (the boy is cute, too, but the girl has it all over him).

And the last girl? Nervous should be proud. His daughter is adorable. Who'd he have her with?

Thanks! I knew that you, of all people, would appreciate these little beauties!

I'm completely in love with Don's daughter, Nova. They make such a great pair. He was an especially good parent for a Romance sim - always rolled wants to teach her as a toddler and things like that (he feared changing diapers something fierce, though). She's aware of his slutty, slutty ways, and doesn't care at all (seems like alien children don't do the whole angry reaction to their parent woohooing with someone that isn't also their parent - makes sense since the PT is a mystery to them too). She even hangs out with Don's lovely ladies over breakfast the next morning.

The other two aliens were called Jane and Eric (forgot to mention that). Yeah, I suppose I could cover Jane's gnarled eyes with hair, but I thought she looked sweet with that tucked bob (works well with her chubby little cheeks). I don't really mind the ears - she needed some alien features. That's the funny thing about the Singles girls - they don't really look alien at all, aside from the green skin. Eric was pretty cool in university, when I gave him long hair (from OFB, I think).

I knew you'd guess that Nervous was Serenity's parent. His genes are easy to spot. She has most of his face, minus the eyes. I wish I had uploaded a pic of her in uni. She gets even more like Nervous, and I gave her the female mohawk. I'm post a pic when I get my computer back. Her mother is Aiyana Dallas, one of the maids. I had Nervous move out into that really odd little house that looks like a bunker (next to the home of the Smiths), and he hired Aiyana and ended up having triple bolts with her. They got married and had a bunch of children, which is what Family sims do best, of course. I love all Nervous offspring (especially if they get "the eyes"). I happen to think he's just the cutest thing, and love spreading his genetics around, as you'll see...

I don't blame you for breeding up little Nervous-lings. He's one of my favorite Maxis sims (it's a tie between Pascal/Vidcund/PT9 and Nervous). If you like puppy dog eyes, Frances Worthington (in the La Fiesta Tech pre-made college) is ADORABLE!

Percy Beaker (my Nervous clone in Peculiar) is going to breed with BOTH of his men. I can't wait to see how he mixes with each of them. I don't remember if I've ever bred him with Pascal before (if I did, I don't remember the results).
nervous_subjectnervous_subject on October 1st, 2007 02:55 pm (UTC)
I love breeding sims, period. I have to restrain myself from making the whole neighbourhood cross breed. It's one of the reason I love Romance sims - it's the free ticket to spawn with multiple lovers. I feel bad doing it to family sims, though I often do anyway (Brandi Broke is on her 3rd man, going strong heheh). I'm going to have a lot of fun with Strangetown genetics. They are much more interesting than Pleasantview (Blandview).

I have lots of plans for Nervous. It certainly won't be as neat and tidy (or conventional) as the last time I played him. I had other plans for him last time, but I'm a sucker for those triple bolt pairs (autonomous serenading 24/7 and all), so I couldn't switch once Aiyana got her hooks in him. One way or another (a little foreshadowing... heh heh), Nervous' genetics are going to overrun Strangetown. Oh, I can't wait. I need my computer back.

I love your Percy Beaker, and I'll bet his children with both of his lovers will be super cute. It took me a while to warm to Pascal, but I quite like him now. So how do you deal with same sex breeding in your story? Is it explained somehow, or just part of the world? I'm wondering how to deal with it myself - I'll explain it one way or another. With aliens it's easy, since they don't need to follow the human sims biology or ideas about gender at all.

I haven't played Frances yet, but does seem cute. I have set La Fiesta Tech. as Strangetown's university (makes sense to me), so I'm sure that the poor little rich boy will find his way into my storyline eventually.

In Peculiar, same sex breeding only occurs is one of the breeders has alien genetics or has been abducted. So with the Pascal/Albert/Percy grouping, Pascal could never carry a baby. He has NO alien genetics and has never been abducted, so he has no psuedo uterus. Albert (being alien) could have a baby anytime he felt like it (he's very careful not to get pregnant--all aliens from The Community are hermaphroditic). (now this is a bit of a spoiler) Percy, having been abducted as a teen, will be able to gestate an offspring. However, no one knows this because it's not common practice for Pollinators to implant psuedo uteruses into teens--at least the Pollinator in Peculiar has never done this (teens are abducted but usually only harvested, not pollinated--or they're just tagged for use in the future). Also, Percy's psuedo uterus is a model not normally used on sims. His psuedo uterus is basically a copy of a real alien uterus (so that means he can get pregnant via woo-hoo, unlike other psuedo uterus models where there is no egg production--so the embryo has to be created externally and then implanted into the psuedo uterus).

In Nocheat, it's a little different. Sims who have been abducted can get pregnant again later (so their psuedo uterus are fertile). Or they can use Arturo DeTreville-Extreme's genetic merging method and become pregnant that way (Arturo's method also works for f/f pairings). I have a bit of a cross over going on between Nocheat and Peculiar, so it seems The Community has been conducting different experiments in the two neighborhoods (hence the differences in how sims can reproduce post abduction). Also, Nocheat is more heavily populated and the mad scientists and doctors among the population have done a lot of research into alternative fertility. (Guiseppe DeTreville and Arturo DeTreville-Extreme being the fore fathers).

That's really interesting. I like the idea about the implant wombs. I had been thinking about the possible lasting effects of the alien pregnancy, and that's a really nice way to work with it. Thanks for the detailed explanation of how it works in your stories.

Percy has a working uterus! Do I foresee a little unexpected twist?

I'm also working with the idea that aliens are essentially hermaphroditic and bisexual by nature, but one point seems to interfere with that approach - why do they only impregnate male sims? I haven't completely worked out an explanation that I'm completely satisfied with.
madame_uglymadame_ugly on October 1st, 2007 05:01 pm (UTC)
I wondered the same thing (why they only impregnate males). Then I realized that if aliens are hermaphroditic, they would be interested in making male sims MORE like them. Implanting psuedo uteruses would fill the bill. It just took them a while to figure out how to make FULLY functional psuedo uteruses. (or in the case of The Community aliens, they work with lots of different species, so some take to certain approaches better than others--Paul Tech gives a little explaination to Glam in one installment, when he realizes Glam has a PsU2 version which accomodates twins, which Glam then goes on to have).

So since they're impregnating males, then they can harvest from the females (eggs). They can use the harvested materials to make offspring within The Community (and even implant it back into male sims) or just do whatever with it. And maybe the female sim uterus isn't hospitable to the implanted half alien embryo? (also, it's more difficult to make a female sim hermaphroditic--it's like when people get sex changes, it's easier to dig a hole then raise a pole!).

Or you could have them impregnate females, too. Just because the game doesn't do it automatically doesn't mean it can't be done.
nervous_subjectnervous_subject on October 1st, 2007 05:21 pm (UTC)
Good point. I could use boolprop to impregnate females too. Why not change the rules to suit my needs? That's one option.

It would make sense that the human uterus wouldn't work for alien reproduction. So they work with the males, who have no existing internal sex organs.

pixelcuriouspixelcurious on October 4th, 2007 03:49 pm (UTC)
Good grief. Does the right to life movement know about your aliens, Madame? I think they would have a thing or two to say about all this egg-harvesting and what-not.

madame_uglymadame_ugly on October 4th, 2007 04:25 pm (UTC)
The pro-lifers would LOVE The Community's take on FORCED breeding, right?

It's the BUTTSEX they'd get all worked up over.
pixelcuriouspixelcurious on October 4th, 2007 04:31 pm (UTC)
I was thinking of all those eggs. Don't they get in a twist over un-used eggs and embryos? maybe it's mostly the embryos.

The buttsecks is a given. (Ew, I used the gross spelling!) :D
madame_uglymadame_ugly on October 4th, 2007 05:06 pm (UTC)
Yeah, the ebryos--oops, I mean "snowflake babies" *vomits* need to be SAVED. SAVE THE SNOWFLAKE BABIES!!! MY GAWD WON'T SOMEONE THING OF THE ZYGOTES!!!!!

Buhsecks.
nervous_subjectnervous_subject on October 4th, 2007 06:07 pm (UTC)
WTF? Snowflake babies? Please say you made that up...
madame_uglymadame_ugly on October 4th, 2007 07:28 pm (UTC)
Well, I'm using the term out of context a bit.

There was a do-ings a while back where politicians were going on and on about the EVILS of abortion and stem cell use/research and they trotted out these parents who had conceived their child from frozen embroys. The child was labeled a "snowflake baby". It was doubly gag worthy because the kid was (of course) lilly white. Those are the only "babies" really worth saving, right?

So frozen embroys aren't frozen embryos. They're "snowflake babies" and as such should be saved from the pro-abortion (notice, they use the term pro-abortion instead of pro-CHOICE) set, who's blood lust makes them want to kill all the "babies".

I love how they (meaning the fundies/pro-lifers/whatever you want to call them) can conveniently overlook the fact that SCIENCE (not Jay-sus) was the source of the frozen eggs/ebryos.

Ooh, I'd better stop before I mount my Frankenlitter soap box.
nervous_subjectnervous_subject on October 4th, 2007 05:09 pm (UTC)
As long as those eggs get their right to live... fair game (and the aliens will surely use them - obsessive pollinators that they are). Just don't use the wasted ones for something trivial, like stem cell research. *eye roll*

(Anonymous) on October 4th, 2007 05:41 pm (UTC)
Because a microscopic blob of undifferentiated cells is SO much more important than the millions of actual people who would benefit from said research...

Aaarrgghhh. I'm shutting up. I need to study! (I'll get back to you on the other thread... too much to reply to till after class... thank you for your comments! though)
pixelcuriouspixelcurious on October 4th, 2007 05:42 pm (UTC)
that was me.
nervous_subjectnervous_subject on October 4th, 2007 05:50 pm (UTC)
No problem! ^_^ I can wait 'til then.

I have to bite my tongue after a while on certain issues like that too (gender/sexuality stuff being my main trigger). Not that I regret having a critical mind, but I can feel people leaving the "room", even on the internet. *sigh* I have someone in my immediate family who is paralyzed from the neck down, so the stem cell thing just enrages me.

pixelcuriouspixelcurious on October 4th, 2007 03:47 pm (UTC)
How did I miss this?!

Nova has a great look. I want to see her as she ages. That sour lemon face will look hilarious with some of the facial expressions. Also, it's so great that you made Don get abducted -- payback! :D

Jane and Eric are adorable -- especially that one pic of Jane. I think by gnarled, Mme. Ugly meant the little ears that aliens have. Especially when they're toddlers, they just look like a knob on the side of their heads. :D

I like that outfit Jane's wearing, what I can see of it. It has a Maxis look to it, which I love, especially the later designs. I think they keep getting better and better. That's one reason I want to switch to a PC. They still haven't given us Mac players much in the way of stuff packs, and Seasons hasn't even come out for Macs as far as I know... but I digress.

Serenity is very pretty! A little Nervous girlie. Awww.

nervous_subjectnervous_subject on October 4th, 2007 05:42 pm (UTC)
I'm glad to see that you like my alien cuties, but I'd expect no less from you. ^_^

When it occurred to me to get Don abducted, I was amazed it hadn't occurred to me before. I love throwing hurdles at Don - he just takes them in stride. My first play through Pleasantview left him with with no less than 14 children all over town, maybe more. He was blissfully unaware of most, but was involved with lots of them too - he'd just show up to visit them. His personality is really interesting. I hate when people change his aspiration too - they are so missing the point - his name is Don. Don Lothario. It's not hard to understand. ^_^

Nova (aka Lemon Face) is a real treasure. I had plans to give her a hot pink wig and dress in uni, but then I saw that this would now be a blatant rip-off of your E.C. Hmmm... maybe I could still go with red or purple.

Yeah, I understood what Mme. Ugly was getting at with the the gnarled ear thing. I don't really mind them, that's what I was trying to get across. I think they're cute. Maybe I should try an uglacy... it would be hard to find something I was truly repelled by. Could be interesting. *makes a note*

Jane's outfit is from Glamour Life Stuff. I can't resist getting all those SPs - I'm just a sucker for anything extra Maxis makes, and all the CC recolours are great too. I'm sorry to hear you've been excluded from them.

Serenity is so awesome. Personality-wise, she's like a really nice and outgoing version of Nervous. ^_^ She had instant triple bolts with Johnny!
